I exported some route to an XML file from another site (can't remember which) and imported it to Bikely without a problem. I've also copied routes on Bikely by exporting it to XML and then importing it and giving it another name.
Are you importing from an file on your computer or directly from a GPS?

No problems importing GPX files into Bikely and editing them.
I like the "follow road" feature of Toporoute.com, but any route longer than, say 20 miles and it won't allow you to generate a GPX - I guess there would be too many points to generate or something.
