so i found an old bike in the street the other day. falcon 453 frameset, and not much else, but i was close to home, so stuck it on my back to have a look at when i got home. i want to build it into a shopping bike with a big basket front and back!

the frame looks pretty good. very little rust on the outside.

however.... there are some small holes at near the dropouts, and near the fork ends which i'm guessing are for water to drain out of if it manages to get inside the tubes, and there is quite a bit of rust around these which makes me think that the insides of the tubes are rusty.

what can i do to stop the rot? should i slosh linseed oil around in the tubes or something?

also, does anyone know anything about reynolds 453?
