I know you said you have access to a truing stand, but there are other tools you should purchase. At the minimum you should get a dish tool, and if you want to make sure you're building a sound set of wheels get a spoke tensiometer. The initial purchase of these tools will probably put you over what you could have bought pre-maid. The satisfaction of building your own wheels though, awesome. Here is a pic of my bike with my latest wheelset that I built up.
