Just an aside, heat trapping is as much a function of what the pavement is made from as its color.
Light colored cement (PCC) freeways traps and retains more heat than near black rubberized asphault.
The rubberized asphault gets a higher surface temp in the day, but cools more quickly and has a lower temp at night. It stores less heat.
The dark color is better for eye fatigue too.
