I wouldn't have noticed the split infinitive at all, except that it was used in a critique of someone else's grammar. Don't you find that ironic? In an informal forum such as this, matters of grammar, spelling and punctuation shouldn't matter unless the writer's meaning is unclear. I just couldn't resist the urge to tweak the self proclaimed grammar nazi.
