Oh well.
Flatlanders? Look around - I ride from coast to coast so keep coasting freewheel.
The brake - or no brake - issue is always the story no matter what is said - that is
the hook on every article written in the last 20 years.
We will never get past the same tired old topics covered in the news without more unity in cycling.
I don't think differently of myself riding a road, Mt, or track bike. So why should it be a topic
everytime the subject comes up about fixed gear bikes? Get over it!
If you can't ride one it is your fault. Track bikes make you look inward instead of flipping to the next
gear for ability or solution for lack thereoff.
People are making a lot of money on us folks, locally, nationally, and internationally and it is time we put their feet to the fire.
This is how we do it...
You want us to buy you overpriced products (60 dollar tires - 10,000 dollar bikes) over and over every year? Do something for us in return, so we are not exploited by corporations that just want to sell
their overpriced sports products and have nothing to do with cycling. I'm not sure how far these products will go with their greed before we as a group put our united foot down. Why did ADT put a velodrome in LA when big bike manufacers are riding around in million dollar sportscars and do nothing for the state of cycling in America. If this article is correct we are holding the loaded gun. You never use it, but sometimes you have to show it to make your point. It will get their attention. If that makes me salty-tounged, I can live with that.
This is the issue that should be on the front burner, not do we have brakes or not. If no one brings it up next year we will be paying 100 dollars for a tire that costs 10cents to make.
