If he inherits the family mechaincal skills, he'll be fine when the time comes to fix bikes, cars, computers, airplanes, etc. as this is a family of mechanics. All of his male relatives, save one uncle who is a cop, is a mechanic of one sort or another, working on bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks, tractors, computers, and airplanes. As for breaking things, I try to take care of my equipment, I just hope he learns to save.
