The fact is that we don't need to give 3 warnings, or even one. Those things are done out of courtesy, as we would like to think that our members will respect the forum guidelines. If they stray outside of them, we're willing to give them a chance to correct that behavior. But if someone repeatedly posts inappropriate comments or images*, they'll get the boot.
Now, if it was you that posted the image, (I only saw the monkey, don't think I saw the fat guy) and it got reported to the mod queue, it would have been different. I would have scratched my head, said "Hmmm, never heard of this guy", deleted the image, and maybe sent you a PM with an unofficial warning. But Botto has created quite a name for himself in the mod queue.
*The fact that he was picking on ryanf did cause some mixed emotions amongst the moderators. In the end, he should be derided for choosing such an easy target.
i understand all of that. my issue is that there are plenty of people who get away with worse & according to the guidelines cuda2k outlined for us, there are plenty of posts that would be valid of a ban. sure, botto can be a bit much, but i see many members doing just as bad (if not worse) & it's allowed. i'd consider the bongo images (sans "very limber" pic) less of a personal attack than the R600DuraAce pics, but he's not around to defend himself. i guess in the land of bike forums if a tree falls in the woods & no one reports it, it's not a tree at all. there have been some very venomous attacks, specifically in the thread i referenced before, & i believe that if it were botto saying those things he's be kicked off for life. but no. their handles are not "botto" so it's cool.
i'm not saying botto should not have been banned. not at all. i didn't see the naked man pic, but i bet it was worthy of his punishment. i just think he's the only one who is being punished for the type of things everyone posts & i think it's busch.
