Actually, it was predominantly your fault. The driver had no reason to anticipate a vehicle coming at the speed of a bike from that direction.

You're a vehicle. Obey the rules of the road applicable to vehicles, or suffer the consequences.

Fortunately this was no harm no foul, but you should use this as a learning opportunity.
