I'm throwing out Mountains of Misery also - the century has 10k feet of climbing and the double metric is 128M with 13-14k feet of climbing. I did the double metric last year - brutal. Both rides finish going up the back side of the Mountain Lake climb which gets over 13% in places. As an aside, in the early 90's, Lance attacked on the same climb and soloed in to win a stage of the Tour Dupont finishing on the Virginia Tech campus. It was very cool seeing him come in solo around the Tech drillfield that I'm sure you've all seen on the news in the last few weeks.
I'm thinking about doing the Mountain Momma century this year - anyone here done that? The map shows 13,720 feet over 9 or 10 climbs.
