I'm serious, the intersection by my Corporate park has these signs located so that it is technically illegal for a pedestrian to cross at the light in any direction. This is not some superhighway mind, just a pretty normal 4 lane county road, 45mph limit etc... Needless to say, no "press to cross" buttons here!
The town where my business is located, Carnegie, PA has resolved this problems by not installing the light changing devices. They think it is much more productive to have 50 cars stacked up at a light with no cross traffic. And Pittsbugh wonders why they always get tagged for dirty air.(We are 6 miles west of the burgh).
