Yikes. I ride a lot and I know I'd look like a no0b riding that bike too. Those handlebars, mamma mia! I'd never even consider buying that bike unless I was a millionnaire assembling a bike collection and felling I need a cruiser just to have every style. I find that too many people buy them out of ignorance just because those bikes look "cute". Women are especially susceptible (while men tend to be fooled by the "rugged" looks of full-suspension Walmart bikes). Then they try riding their new bikes, find them uncomfortable for anything longer than a mile-long ride, conclude that bikes really are toys meant to be ridden once a year in a park and stop biking.
So that's my view on the kind of bike you got. But don't let my rant stop you from riding and enjoying your bike! I'm obviously prejudiced against cruisers and realize that.

Some people really do like them and ride them often and happily.
