The argument doesn't have to be about car-free vs non car free. People in Montana need to have cars to do whatever one does in Montana, and In Kansas to drive around the corn or whatever (let the ignorance go for a sec) but people in DC don't need to drive huge Suburbans and other large vehicles. That, to get excesively academic, is commodity fetishism. And while riding ridiculous bikes around for a 4 mile commute is also commodity fetishism (partly) its not damaging to the environment. And while there are many other factors in global warming besides cars, it is fallacious to say that cuting down on driving when possible is not a valid solution for any given individual. I suspect that it is a hyper masculine, big d**k jack complex to be resistant to driving small ugly hybrids around in an urban environement. If this is not the case im happy to be corrected.
Alright I even PROOFREAD this submission!
OK actually, some people in an urban setting might need to drive a large ineficient (sp) vehicle, but a good portion of those who do drive them do so for style reasons. Its 3:30 AM why am I even worying about this post?
