Actually, it's 9 degrees and 4.5 degrees...



More float tends to be better for riders who need a little confidence and the feeling they can get out of the pedal. In reality, you move you foot a little bit further to get out of the pedal with float, but lose that "claustrophobic" feeling that some people have regarding being locked into the pedal.
