Sorry, not to be mean, travisvotour, but this is the funniest/saddest thing I've ever read:
"So then I found out there is such thing as off-road BMXing."
BMX was BORN in the dirt. Kids were thrashing about on homemade BMX bikes in a dirt lot before mountain bikes were around.
I've always made it a point to make sure that ALL of my BMX bikes have seen some dirt.
Anyways, regardless - wlecome to BMX! Glad you made the switch.
I got my first BMX bike when I was 13. That was in 1983. A crap $80 Murray from Target. Swapped parts on it, went racing w/ it 3 times then switched out to a proper "BMX" bike. By then I was into freestyle. Got me a GT Performer. This was 1985. Rode flatland, ramps, and dirt all on that bike. We had a nieghborhood track we built, and all us kids would race each other. Or just hang out jumping.
It's 2007 now, I'm 36 and I'm still riding 20" BMX bikes. And 24" BMX cruisers. And my MTB, which was recently rebuilt to be more of a 26" BMX bike.
Welcome to BMX & enjoy the ride!
-Bill
