I was out kayaking once with my garmin. I had 600 feet elevation, the profile showed me below mud level in San Pablo Bay for a few minutes. I would suspect the wind created small pockets of air pressure differences that added up to a wonderful hilly ride.

Good on you for supporting your convert and man is that a booooooring ride. Much prefer neverend mountains, no glory in a head wind
