Mandy, I sincerely hope you are not going to tell your students that you or they shouldn't be held liable if they drive 16 mph over the speed limit. Also, why does them owning their own car make a difference? I believe you're a good person and didn't mean to speed, but you did and there is a penalty for it. Nothing personal. Matter of fact, I actually thank the officer and wish him a nice day if I get cited. He's just doing his job, and in all cases except one he was right and I was wrong.
