Nah, don't sweat the age factor. Last race I was at there was one kid there with his dad driving him, its no big deal. Well unless you want to drink that is, there is a reason they used a bar as the landmark for the starting point!

Remember that these aren't officially sanctioned or anything so the rules are a lot more flexible than regular races.

As for my hotel arangements, I will be in town for a few days and I am more than happy to pay for a room and be able to sleep in a bed. Plus I just like being able to crash whenever I want.
