Also, a surprising number of "carbon" posts are actually aluminum wrapped with a thin layer of carbon for bling's sake. A bunch of my riding partners have cannondale CAAD8 bikes, one of them with full-ultegra, and all have these faux-carbon posts. But these things are no worry at all to break when clamped.
