I have a problem slightly similar to that. I have a 24-speed road bike so, I have 3 sprockets in the front and, eight in the back. When I shift from the baby sprocket to the middle sprocket, it takes two clicks for the chain to switch. Because of this, I cannot utilize the biggest sprocket or, gears 17-24.
