Another arbitrary landmark date is february 03, 1983, the day that Tullio Campagnolo died. For many, this wa the end of an era. It's within a couple of years of Shimano's introduction for SIS and other technology landmarks such as clipless pedals and disc wheels. It's also when the North American riders start to emerge in the European peleton. So for many, the mid-eighties represent the transition to the modern era.
