I was not seriously thinking about anything more than my Cateye Astrale 8 until I saw this thread. What advice would anyone have for another unit that would compete with the Edge? Advice concerning the Forerunner with Cadence versus the Edge with cadence?

Yes. Difference is that Edge has 2 hours more battery(12 hours) and a larger screen that supports 8 windows vs the FR's 4.
