U should be thinking about Open Pro/Ultegras 32 spokes
My Fulcrum 1's are 16 front, 21 Rear and have been holding up just fine with some pretty hard racing. The only wheel I've trashed in a race is my 32-spoke Powertap/ RR1.1 wheel.

It's 2007. More spokes does not necessarily mean more durable, nor does fewer spokes mean less durable.
