Retro Grouch and operator pretty much have the idea.
The Mountain Drive is a little different, only because I'm thinking of setting it up with a single gear lever on the downtube (or handlebar).
Basically, same effect though.
If based on a single speed bike, I would make the two front sprockets an equal amount larger, and smaller.
This is my idea, anyway.

...however, in this modern world of "2,000 speed Mondo X-treem urban guerilla warfare gang slappin' jam slammin' hypto bikes"....

...would anyone really be interested in buying a two-speed?


I'm starting to wonder if this isn't a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
