Thanks for the pic. I tried this on my bike, but mounted the bar ends just inboard of the grips, sliding the shifter/brakes more towards the stem. As you probably know, this method interferes with shifting, and when everything is adjusted to allow shifting, the brakes end up in an awkward place.

Next time I feel like taking the grips off, will try your arrangement. Right now, the bar ends are on the ends, but they are really too wide to be really comfortable. I have been thinking about cutting an inch off each end of the bar... but I will definately try this... all I want is an alternate, comfortable hand position.
