There is no "norm." Go with whatever you're flexible enough to handle and still be able to put the power down and don't just go by looks. 73 degree headtube and -17 stem with give you something that's perfectly horizontal to the ground. With a -8, you'll have a slight rise, and if you flip it to +8, you'll have a big rise.
