Being a driver for years I can't fathom not paying attention/looking for things not immediately in front of me.... kids on sidewalks...ppl walking dogs...drunks...kids in playgrounds....it's called being defensive, and once one accepts the full responsibility of the hurtling mass one is in control of, it gets alot easier to not hit things.

Maybe drivers should drive like cyclists...always waiting for something to come along and kill them.
