Yes white is one of the first colors I can pick outfrom afar. one guy on my commute has an old All foam (no plastic) helmet and I can spot him a mile away.

Actually Im a an avid technical scuba diver and one of my dive buddies (before we all wore force fins)

one of my buddies wore white Mares fins and those fins could always be seen from quite a distance when the rest of him dissapeared into the darkness. the lime green fins were next best.

I just bought a new Giro helmet in "Chalk" not quite white for the be seen reason.
