I'm not that crazy about white since I feel the need to standout from the background. One reason for workers wearing lime is that the cones, barrells, fencing and equipment near them is usually orange. Since there is a big solid white line running right along beside where I'm riding, I prefer something different. Plus white is too much like a spot of glare in bright sun too.

Lime, orange, yellow and red are my favorites biking colors. I have a yellow bell citi helmet and an orange caesco passion helmet. I wear orange or lime jersey/shirts.

Another thing to consider is big patches of solid color in addition to be a bright color.
