I am surprised and happy that you saw 23 bicyclist in an hour. That sure would not happen here even on a main street. Maybe you would see five bicyclists in one day. Bicycling for transportation is still very much a fringe thing here.

I do notice a lot more bicycle transport on the west and east coasts. It is ironic because the bicycling conditions here are better than they are on the coasts (less traffic).
