You're building a fixie. Try e-bay or craigs list, any Japanese bike will do. 1980 to 1988 or so will do best. Here's why : most bikes have been made in Taiwan for 15 years, that rules-out new, you're buying it to cut-up anyway. Forget Italian, you'll pay a premium, forget french, too quirky, a tuff time to play the parts game. Exceptions : later Motobecanes, less so Peugot. Schwinns : lighter ones,1978-85 LeTours,Worlds, any and all chromoly framed bikes. No new recomendations, other than see what comes-up here. S/S anyway. Raleighs cost alot to, it's a sin to butcher a Raleigh.
