As an ultra cyclist I use Sustained Energy (SE) on 12- hour double centuries with over 16,000 feet of climbing and never eat any solids. I have also used it on Solo Furnace Creek 508. A 508 mile 35,000 feet of climbing non-stop event. Just mix 3 scoops in your water bottle and that is all you need. Carbs, protien, fat and electrolytes. You can supplement with other electrolytes in capsule form it is really hot.
When the intensity is high you don't want to eat solid foods and then ride at a slower pace while digesting. I will be using SE on RAAM and trust it for my primary fuel.
I NEVER USE GATORADE FOR ANYTHING OVER 2 HOURS. SUGAR CONTENT IS TOO HIGH AND NOT ENOUGH ELECTROLYTES.
So what do you think of Hammer perpetuem or have you tried it? Just getting into long distance riding myself and will be giving perpetuem a try as soon as I recieve my order. Previously been on Powerbar Endurance which I like for shorter rides (less than 3 hours).
