Unclip one foot when you're practicing (the foot you'd normally put down first), turn the handlebars more than you think you should (it gets much easier if you turn the bars 65 degrees vs. 45 degrees), make use of the natural slope that happens at the side of roads, come into it very slowly, ride out of it if it seems like it's going wrong - don't try and save it until you've grown confident w/ the whole process.
