In the first six months of riding, the handlebars snapped in two. Then, in a rainstorm, pedaling hard with my Lance like legs, the non-drive side of the crank sheared in two. A short time later, the seatpost snapped. Little did I realize my ten miles each way commute constituted "unusual use" and thus voided the warranty. Eventually, as a final (and inexplicable) indignity, the rear stay developed a bend. No, not a flex from riding, an actual, permanent bend. There were some other oddities, such as the headset with a mixed Campy JIS standard and some other stuff I have probably willfully forgotten. I kept the bike going for a while, but at last gave up on it, figuring it had likely been built by Satan's little elves in workshop full of discontent or something. Instead, I learned to fix the PFN (and built a PX fixie), and distrust bike shops entirely.
Others on this board have defended these bikes, but I go the other way when I see them. I'm glad if you've had a good experience on them and like them, I won't discount it, but nothing (even certain death) would make me get another one.
What year was that Technium?
