This is the 36th year of tandemming for us. During all of that time my wife has never so much as sat on the front saddle and I've never ridden on the back. Neither of us had any desire to change that.

One interesting misconception non-tandemists have is that the view never changes for the stoker. In reality, the opposite is true. I generally focus on a strip of road ahead that's maybe 2' wide. One of my wife's jobs is to alert me whenever there's a particularly attrictive view off to either side.
