NO road shoes will work at all. Mountain bike shoes; some are better than others for both riding (stiff sole) and walking (provide a "rolling gate"). I felt the hi-end Shimanos and Sidis were too knarly. You can choose between a very HushPuppy/freestyle type and a less severe mountain shoe, that's what I did. I'll add that touring shoes are a poor choice, most of them have that protruding "cleat" of sorts near the front of the sole, these are designed to hook into the old style toe-clips. I tried shoes with that cleat they suck. I went with the MX165 Lakes, Lake has many, many models, some are sold by web-stores, some models and not all sizes. click HERE for IMFO>> www.lakecycling.com for ideas and good photos.
