I recently had a bout with numb hands. I bought some new, gell well padded gloves, which seemed to make the matter worse. I then switched back to some older thinly padded gloves, which helped. Finally I dropped my handlebars a bit, just so that the bars before the hoods were very slightly down. Feels much more comfortable this way, and the numbness is gone.
