Actually, a friend originally told me it was surely my pedals that had a shot bearing, so I bought brand new ones. But that was before I took it to the LBS. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a cup and cone they replaced it with. He showed me a cartridge and said that's what they'd used in the past on "weirdo" French bikes. So unless he decided to scam me, which is unlikely because we're buddies, I think I got a new cartridge. I'll try regreasing and retightening the crank arm bolt. It is kinda a creaking noise... I don't know, hard to describe bike sounds. Thanks again, all.
