Well, it also goes without saying that the S.F. Bay Area has been found to be historically
abnormal when it comes to pricing anything - C-List or not. Same with NYC.

But there is an inherent "value" to the fact that it is "new in the box." Everyday this board finds lots of bikes in dumpsters, craigs list, ebay, etc. But how often do you find an old bike that has never been ridden, let alone taken out if the box... pretty cool and worth it if you ask me.
Imagine finding your favorite bike in this state... most people would be all over it.
There are quite a number of these final generation of Nottingham Super Courses out there in very nice or near NOS condition, along with a boat load of them that aren't.
It is no secret that these machines are rather plentiful, and in comparison to many other machines of reasonable quality that were made during the period, aren't too particularly valuable. Just because it is NIB doesn't mean it is worth a small fortune.
