Holy aero bars Batman

I put aero bars on my road bike today (have a TT next weekend).

1. I don't know what people are complaining about in terms for the tradeoff between aero and comfort/power - I feel more comfortable on the aerobars than I ever did in the drops. My position may not be as agressive as it could be, but it's not terrible.

2. Doing 20 minute intervals over the same patch of flat terrain, my speed was up 1.4 mph at slightly lower HR with the aero bars compared to two weeks ago (no wind either day). Even if we assume I made some fitness gains over the last two weeks, that's huge.

I have a much better appreciation for why Fignon was pissed. He was beaten by a better interpretation of the rules (I'm not faulting Lemond in the least) and maybe his own stupidity in not using aerobars. But at the end of the day, I'm sure he feels that his legs were better than Lemond's.
