It's a thick cable covered with metal rings. I like it because I can't always count on what I'm going to be able to lock to,and often one of the folks I'm riding with doesn't have a lock or only has a crappy plain cable. For bar hopping and shopping it works fine,but if I was going to lock up overnight I'd combine it with a mini U Sheldon style.
That lock lasted a measly 18 seconds against common bolt cutters in the recent Cycling Plus lock test.
Cycling Plus's comment on the lock was this:
Looks good, feels big and tough, claims the same- fails miserably.
