I have recently started to play some mind games with people instead of shouting. I was riding down an avenue, had the light, but there were no cars around so the pedestrians crossed as if a collision with a bike wouldn't hurt. About 50 feet before I reached the intersection I shouted, "Look out, he's not gonna stop!" They scattered.
In another episode, I was in a park where a dog's owner had let the dog off its leash (illegal). The dog went running after a squirrell that ran across the road, leaving him in my trajectory. Instead of swerving to avoid Fido, I stopped, showed him a piece of bread that I had brought to eat during my ride, and started to coax him - in the opposite direction of his owner. The owner shouted something so I waved and said, "Thanks for the dog!"
Finally, a runner decided to cross the street without looking. I buzzed him and calmy said, "Only one of us is wearing a helmet. Who do you think would do better in a crash?"
