ONTARIO POWER GENERATION (OPG)has contracted Murray Demolition for the removal ofexisting equipment, buildings and stacks at the former Lakeview Generating Station.The Lakeview Powerhouse will be control dropped using explosives. Demolition is scheduledfor shortly after 7:30 am Monday June 25. A warning siren on site will sound 10 minutes andone minute before the charges are set off to alert persons near the site. A warning siren willsound prior to any testing to alert those near the site.Demolition will occur only if the contractor determines that weather conditions arefavourable. Demolition may be delayed until later in the day or another day if conditions arenot right.A 500 metre exclusion zone will be established from the Powerhouse. It will extendtwo kilometresout into the lake.No traffic will be permitted on the Lakefront Promenade next to the plant one hourbefore the demolition charges are set off on June 25.Join us for a coffee to mark the demolition of the Powerhouse.
