This is outrageous. There is simply not enough for the airport police and security services to do, so they find work harassing a cyclist. "The devil finds work for idle hands" springs to mind.
I've travelled quite a lot by air recently, and the whole thing has become a fiasco run by "Nazis". A tube of toothpaste was confiscated on one occasion, with the offer to squeeze half of it back into a bag for me. Then there's the case of my son, 4 months old at the time, in which the security officer outright insisted that we remove his shoes. It makes no sense at all. None of it makes me feel safer, because I did not feel threatened in the first place.
At one point I thought of riding to the airport, as my journey was a somewhat regular fortnightly commute. After reading the Greencycles article, I'm glad I didn't try it.
