Long wheelbase in touring bikes is achieved mainly by long chainstays (which also help to reduce heel strike), shallow head tube angle and bigger fork rake. My road bike has a 54 top tube and a w/base of 100 cm whereas my tourer has a 53 top tube an a w/base of 103 cm. I use a longer stem in the tourer to replicate the comfortable position of the road bike.

The dirtdrop stem can be an alternative to the technomic.
