I figure people do what they feel comfortable with, I'm accustomed to the fact that none of friends really want to ride with me, they think I'm weird for riding all over, looking like a construction worker (vest/goggles) and flying in traffic. I love doing that, and I don't care if people think I'm nuts. If someone wants to drive their bike to a park for a nice quiet ride, I'm all for it - I don't personally get it, but I've never owned a car - however, I do get it that people don't like riding on the roads - it's crazy out there at times, and who wants that on a nice relaxing weekend? Well, other than the likes of us..
For me is not really about the drivers as it is about the road conditions.
We normally ride about 35 miles + on the roads and 20+ miles on the MUP when we do our Saturday group ride and the drivers are cool...
