BTW, failure at the valve stem base is pretty common and can be worsened if the valve hole in the rim has a sharp edge. Be sure the rim tape is centered over the hole. A small patch cut from a defunct tube and punched with a small hole can be placed over the valve stem of a new tube to act as a second layer and protect the valve stem base.
