Ok, finally had the chance to take some pictures of my chrome Varsity find. I put about 10 minutes into cleaning it off a little and a big black spider that was camping out on the front wheel hub has been evicted and is looking for a new home. I tried cleaning up a few parts of the chrome (top of the bottom bracket between the down and seat tubes was solid rust for example) and it looks like it should clean up pretty well. I think I can challenge my brothers chrome Paramount if I do a restoration on it. At least my Varsity is intact! I'll be looking for front and rear derailleurs and a chainguard for starters so if anyone has stuff laying around let me know! Hoping this doesn't cost as much to rebuild as a 72 Paramount... Oh yeah, tubes and tires still hold air so I'm off to a good start!
