I'll email my grandad & see if he recalls any more details. He was involved in AM radio transmitter design for a while and had a few oddball stories like this.
Oh yeah, that's a different matter. High frequency transmission leaks everywhere regardless of who is receiving the signal. Although I doubt it would be enough to power a lightbulb, especially without something much more sophisticated than a circular metal fence.
Who knows though. The Russians used to build some ridiculously powerful transmitters. Problem is, since the power goes everywhere, stuff like that cooks your organs.
