In my view derailers were ok when all you had was a 3 sp hub
or a single speed hub. Derailers were an easy way to "gear
up" a bike. Now I wonder if derailers are still the best
way to put gearing on a bike. What do think?

How can anyone engage in polite open discussion
when they will be held up to ridicule because they
are not fully up to speed with all the others who
post in bikeforums? How else can one learn from
others who are willing to share and ,at times,
mentor new or returning riders. I consider this
post to be arrogant, rude and adds nothing of value
